Danny Rose: Captain? Me? Are you really serious?
The 25-year-old left-back has been a loyal servant for the north London club immediately after he joined in 2007.
He was subsequently rewarded on his 107th look for Spurs with the armband as first-choice captain Hugo Lloris and vice-captain Harry Kane named on the substitutes’ bench in the 2-2 draw at White Hart Lane.
“It was a bit of a surprise,” admitted Rose via SpursTV.
“The manager only stated an hour-and-a-half before kick off and I asked him if he was getting severe! He mentioned yes, so it was a proud moment for myself and my family.
;I’ll hope there will probably be some extra games along the line exactly where I can stroll the group out, especially at White Hart Lane.;
Rose revealed the decision produced by Pochettino gave him an added increase to perform nicely and lead the same example as those who have donned the armband prior to him.
“There’s been Ledley [King], Daws [Michael Dawson] and obviously now we’ve got the most effective keeper in the league who’s a No. 1 captain,” he added.
“I was sat prior to the game wanting to prepare myself and when I located out. I was provided an added incentive to perform effectively and spur the lads on anytime I could.”
Rose also conceded that the replay does make Tottenham’s upcoming schedule – which continues with another encounter against Leicester on Wednesday night within the Premier League – even harder, but is ultimately read more happy that the team are within the hat for the next round of the FA Cup.
“We could do without the replay because we’ve got a lot of games coming up over the next two weeks but nevertheless we’ve done nicely not to lose the game,” he mentioned.
“We should expect a similar game – definitely they have [Jamie] Vardy and [Riyad] Mahrez coming back in who have been outstanding this season, so they’ll have several key players coming back. So should we.
“The fans and the players should expect a similar game, with lots of possession and them trying to hit us on the counter-attack, but if we play as we did at Everton in the very first half and how we did today in the initial half, we can convert some chances, try to put the game to bed and close the gap on them to one point.
“We’ve got two winnable home games and we want to push ourselves up the league.”
